At Sporting Greystones FC, we are committed to fairness, fun, and football for all. These rules are designed to ensure a positive and inclusive experience for every player, coach, and supporter.Core Principles
Equal Playing Time: Every player must receive equal time on the pitch. No exceptions.
No player may start as a substitute for two games in a row.
Respect: All participants – players, coaches, and spectators – must show respect to the referee and each other at all times.
The referee’s decision is final.
Positive Side lines: If you're shouting from the side lines, make sure it’s encouragement – not pressure.
This is a fun, inclusive event. Please don’t shout instructions or criticism at players – let the kids play and enjoy the game.Match Rules
Small-sided format applies to all age groups.
No offside rule in effect.
Goalkeepers may pick up back passes.
Throw-ins from the side lines.
Games are 15 minutes per half.
Shin guards (worn under socks) and football boots are mandatory.
Player Rotation – "Empty the Bench"
To ensure fairness:
Divide the match into timed periods based on the number of substitutes.
At the end of each period, rotate all substitutes onto the pitch.
This ensures every player gets equal playing time across the game.Tackling Rule (U10/U11 and above)
Any dangerous or poorly timed tackle will result in a 5-minute timeout for the offending player, enforced by the referee.
This applies even if it leads to an uneven number of players (e.g. 4v5) due to squad size.Match Outcomes & Points System

If a team falls behind by more than 4 goals, they may add one extra player.
If the score line continues to grow, they may add two extra players.
If the goal difference drops to within 2 goals, the additional players must return to the bench.
This approach aims to keep matches balanced and enjoyable for all players.Goalkeeper Rules

Goalkeepers must kick from the ground or throw the ball.
Kicks from the hand are not allowed – if done, the kick-out must be retaken.Age-Specific Rules
